Saturday Star Stories Brings Books and Night Skies Together at The Bishop
This summer, young astronomers can let their imaginations travel beyond Earth during Saturday Star Stories at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature.
Designed for families and curious young minds, this special summer program pairs the wonder of storytelling with the beauty of the night sky. After the first Planetarium show of the day, Ted’s Space Adventure, guests are invited to gather beneath the dome for a cozy, space-themed storytime as constellations drift overhead.
The experience offers a calm, engaging way for children to connect with astronomy. As stories unfold beneath the stars, the Planetarium at The Bishop becomes a place where science, imagination, and discovery meet.
Saturday Star Stories takes place at 11:45 AM at the front of the Planetarium dome on June 27, July 11, July 18, July 25, August 1, and August 8. The program is included with Museum admission.
The Bishop’s Summer Science Camp Gives Young Learners a Place to Explore, Create, and Discover
This summer, young scientists can spend their days exploring the galleries, exhibitions, and hands-on learning spaces at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature during Summer Science Camp 2026.
Running through July 31, Science Camp invites children ages 7 to 11, or students entering grades 2 through 5, to investigate the world around them through science, creativity, play, and discovery. Campers use the Museum itself as their classroom, moving through exhibits and learning spaces as they explore topics in astronomy, prehistoric life, chemistry, Florida wildlife, ocean predators, insects, and more.
Each week features a different theme, giving campers a fresh experience whether they are learning about Mars, testing science through baseball, examining Ice Age creatures, studying chemistry, or exploring the animals and habitats that make Florida unique. Several camp weeks have already sold out, with select July sessions still listed on the Museum’s camp page.
Summer Science Camp takes place on site at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature, 201 10th Street West in downtown Bradenton. Weekly camp fees are $300 for members at the Innovator level and above and $350 for nonmembers. The shortened July 4 week is $240 for members and $280 for nonmembers. Limited scholarships are available, and families can contact the Museum for more information about financial aid.
Through hands-on activities and Museum-based learning, Summer Science Camp gives young learners a chance to ask questions, test ideas, and build confidence while discovering science in an engaging setting. Registration details, availability, and camp policies are available through The Bishop’s Science Camp page, https://bishopscience.org/science-camp/.
